📝 Quick Germination Tips

  • Soil temp matters more than air temp. Use a soil thermometer — they're cheap and worth every penny.
  • Keep soil consistently moist (not waterlogged) until seeds sprout. Misting works better than heavy watering.
  • Cover trays with plastic wrap to hold humidity until you see green. Remove immediately after sprouting.
  • Pre-soak large seeds (peas, beans, beets, chard) for 8–12 hours to speed things up.
  • Don't bury tiny seeds too deep. Lettuce, carrots, and herb seeds need barely any cover.
  • Old seeds? Do a paper towel test first — wrap 10 seeds in a damp towel, seal in a bag, wait 7–10 days, and count sprouts.
  • Times shown are realistic ranges based on home garden conditions, not lab settings. Your results may vary slightly.
